Abstract

This work aims to analyze the elements present in the Fountain of Cauda and its historiographical importance for residents and tourists of the city of Goiás. Having as a theoretical basis: landscape, space, tourism, heritage and with This is based on the study of mental maps, whose objective is to try to identify some important elements of the social representation of these two social groups. Of that In this way, a theoretical investigation of the origins of the city of Goiás was carried out, and the new meanings of Chafariz de Cauda. Empirically, a questionnaire was applied, with the aim of investigating the importance of Chafariz de Cauda and the possible representations and symbolism, startling residents and tourists. With Based on this questioning, it was possible to identify for residents and tourists, that in fact the Chafariz de Cauda is an essential element in the history of Goiás, today being considered part of the historical heritage of Goiás. In this context, the based on the existing theoretical basis in this work, it is concluded that, in fact, the importance of the city of Goiás as a World Heritage Site, in addition to protecting a cultural, provides subsidies to originally maintain the history of a place, or that is, it keeps a cultural heritage, a symbolic value, an identity cultural and essential wealth.
