Narcisismo e a construção das masculinidades: possíveis correlações refletidas na manosphere

Abstract

The manosphere is a universe composed by subgroups with masculinist ideology, such as The Red Pill, Incels, Men Going Their Own Way and Pick Up Artists. These groups have grown online through anonymous forums, and in recently have been gaining attention on popular social networks. In this context, the present work seeks to propose a reading of the possible correlations between men who have masculinist ideologies, the construction of masculinity and the Freudian concept of Narcissism. To this end, a bibliographical research was carried out on the historical context of masculinities and the structure of the manosphere, in addition to discussing the ideas related to the process of Narcissism, according to Psychoanalysis. Possible relations were pointed out between the way in which Narcissism is structured in modern men and the actions taken in the manosphere. A reaction to the narcissistic wound caused by the advancement of progressive agendas that propose a deconstruction of hegemonic masculinity in today's society was observed.
