A violência doméstica contra mulheres no Brasil e a importância das intervenções psicossociais na vida das vítimas

Abstract

Domestic violence against women is a complex and worrying phenomenon that persists in Brazil, as well as in different parts of the world, and affects all social classes. The term refers to any act of gender-based violence that causes physical, sexual, psychological, moral or property damage or suffering to women. That said, it is essential to reflect not only on ways to prevent crime from happening, but also on the obstacles to this phenomenon and effective intervention strategies for women who have already been and/or are being victimized. Reducing the damage caused by aggression of this level requires working together with the whole of society and well-defined strategies on the part of the responsible bodies, as it is essential to guarantee the safety, emotional well-being and recovery of these women. Several approaches have been developed to tackle this serious problem and this article addresses some of them, along with the gender implications that this violence has, under the bibliographic review methodology.
