Abstract

The elaboration of history permeates the understanding of historical reality, stimulating reflection on the historical process and social formation. This reflection allows us to grasp the dimension of social dynamics and the unfolding of different historical spaces, spaces that are elaborated through investigation of this social dynamic and its links with the past in order to understand part of the historical process. Currently, this reality has been the subject of countless reflections on the part of historical theorists, the most constant concern has been to carry out an analytical reconstruction of these historiographical productions and verify the production process in which these works were constituted. In fact, it is more specifically an analysis aimed at researching the theoretical and methodological influences of historical practice, as an example of this methodological concern we have the analysis of two theorists, Adam Schaff and Michel D'Certeau, who, despite having differences in their epistemological conceptions, on historical making converge at the point where they understand that the historical process is mediated by the researcher's subjectivity. For Adam Schaff (1995), historical knowledge results from the subjectivity of the historian, hence the diversity of interpretations of the same event. The historical process would thus be a mediation of the researcher's experiences, a reflection of his interpretation, his political, methodological and theoretical conceptions. For D'Certeau (1982), all historical research is articulated within a social, political and economic context and is influenced by a theory and a place of production, and it is in function of these elements that research methods and interest are established.
