Movimento Impressionista Brasileiro: Arte e História do Século XX

Abstract

The present work aims at discussing art in its practical and theoretical dimensions, with an emphasis on impressionism, ranging from the main historical and social circumstances that led to its emergence, its main characteristics as an artistic style and the way in which it was established and had repercussions in Brazil. It seeks to punctuate how this artistic movement conveyed feelings and established freedom for artists to demonstrate their world view and to portray facts that happened in their period. For such research, works by theorists such as Dolzan (2016) and Viana (2013) were used, which discuss the importance of art in the most varied times, covering political, social, cultural and religious spheres. In this way, the three chapters exposed in this work present a reflection of the impressionistic artistic evolution that marked the field of art and society.
