Abstract

This research focus in the field concerning the school integration of the gypsy population. Given the

assumptions of the research we seek to understand how the relationship between gypsies and non- gypsies occurs at school, in the municipality of Pires do Rio, given this relationship arises certain

problematizations, because until when to ensure access to education for the gypsy public will become a challenge, as is the living togheter in school between gypsy and non-gypsy students. This undergraduate thesis aims to comprehend the insertion of gypsy students of the school in Pires do Rio – Goias. The research methodology consisted of bibliographic research, with positive techniques to provide the researcher with theoretical background; the use of field research, used to extract data and information directly from reality with the use of collection techniques. Questionnaires were also applied to gypsy and non-gypsy students and also to the coordination of certain educational institutions. Considering that Geography aims to study the relation of man in his environment - the geographical space, and understanding that this space is also constituted by social, natural, cultural, economic and political relations, this research seeks to understand the relations and / or ethnic conflicts in the school environment. The research is of great importance to the people involved in the research, such as: gypsies, non-gypsy students and school managers, because from this work these people will be able to understand how the relationships between gypsies and non-gypsies are built in the school institution. Therefore, the presence of gypsy children in the school environment with their challenges and / or opportunities becomes thematic study for Geography as a social science.
