Levantamento da Herpetofauna atropelada na rodovia municipal Nicolau Lunardelli no município de Terezópolis, Goiás, Brasil

Abstract

Opening of roads is one of the largest human actions impact on wildlife. The rates of pedestrian accidents have become so abundant that in recent decades have become more important than human hunting as the cause of mortality of terrestrial vertebrates. During this work a survey of herpetofauna found run over on the highway that connects Nicholas Lunardelli Farm Saint White Ecotourism Terezópolis the city of Goiás and found it was made if there is a significant relationship between the rate of trampling of fauna and the influence of natural variables and anthropogenic. Data collection was conducted during trips to highway Nicholas Lunardell, covering 7 km. This stretch was traveled fortnightly between the months of May 2013 and June 2014, a total of 24 visits. Each dead animal sampled was photographed and identified. During the one year period, 12 animals run over 10 species were recorded, with two species of Class Amphibia and eight species of Class Reptilia. Considering the total miles traveled (168 km - the sampling effort), the mean was 0.071 roadkill animals / km traveled. While performing this work, it was noticed that the rates of pedestrian accidents are directly linked to natural actions, characteristics of the life cycle and metabolism of animals, and the influence of man contributing to the mischaracterization of natural habitat.
