Percepção de alunos de escolas da rede pública estadual sobre os roedores do Cerrado brasileiro

Abstract

Rodents are animals belonging to the class Mammalia and the order Rodentia , they have peculiar characteristics such as the incisors and are able to be in several locations , including some species are found in the Cerrado biome , which is the biome of the regions where students live and study . Thus, the present study aimed to analyze the perceptions of students from two of Goiânia on the group of Rodents. The methodology used was quantitative, using questionnaires, with eleven objective questions aimed at ascertaining the students' knowledge in relation to the group. 84 students from the Northwest region and 101 in the Southern region were interviewed in the city of Goiânia, totaling 185 students. To check for differences in students' perception of the two city regions Chi -square (χ2) test was used. Some questions were analyzed using percentage of responses. It was observed that students from state schools the city has a limited knowledge about the rodents , with erroneous interpretations of the same , most of these students in the two regions are classified as mammals rodents , but there were many students who marked other classifications for the group of rodents . For the type of feeding rodents most of the students marked the locations of the two alternative fruits, thus showing that these students of the two locations is not aware about the dispersal of seeds and pollen, and on the importance of the food chain of the group , which makes all the alternatives on correct nutrition , a lot of students said the two regions may not be important to the conservation of the group of rodents , then considering that these students have no knowledge about the ecology of these, local students have more information of rodents is in textbooks and on broadcast television, these in turn , confirmed that there should be more environmental education about the rodents . In the chi- square test found no significant difference in students' knowledge of the two regions. However, it was observed that students of southern region of Goiânia -Go have a better knowledge of the order Rodentia . Thus, it is clear the importance of environmental education for local people, where students from state schools in the Northwest and South region have a limited knowledge about the group of rodent , knowing only some urban species , thereby restricting the ecological importance of rodents in general .
