Abstract

The genocide in Rwanda in 1994 was considered one of the most heinous crimes against humanity in the 10th century. The conflict between the Hutu and Tutsi ethnicities, which resulted in the deaths of more than 800,000 Rwandans and more than 2 million refugees, led to a regional crisis in humanitarianism that was not resolved until 2014. Ethnic conflict, considered a precursor to ge- nocide, has existed since the 11th century and worsened by European colonization, still represents a signi- ficant problem in the country as a whole, none of these issues are discussed or addressed. The research will take place through descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, in which data will be collected through a qualitative search. In view of this, the aim is to answer the following problem: What events culminated the genocide in Rwanda, how did the conflict unfold and what were the subsequent occurrences? It aims to highlight all the political, social and economic factors that generated the genocide in Rwanda; understand how this conflagration occurred; understand its completion process and the changes brought to the country. In this way, the project is justified by its relevance in understanding the entire genocidal process that oc- curred in Rwanda, both related to previous aspects and to the conflict and its subsequent restructuring. Therefore, it is essential to understand which behavioral actions of society and cultures can generate cases of genocide, as well as the dissemination of data that cooperate with the fight against social inequality and the development of initiatives aimed at to contribute to overcoming these.
