Abstract

This research is justified by the attempt to understand the factors that hinder the inclusion of students with disabilities in regular schools, focusing on primary education. This study was conducted through literature review, which had as its source publications, books and scientific articles that address the themes: Special Education, Inclusive Education and Inclusion School. The research was divided into three chapters in which, we will address the historical context that gave rise to inclusion, the inclusion policies, the importance of the physical structure and qualification of teachers in the inclusion process in order to enable access and permanence of students with disability and the important role the family plays in the educational process. It is noticed throughout the research that the lack of knowledge and preparation of teachers in the regular school system has caused insecurity in dealing with students with disabilities, which ends up making the inclusion process difficult.
