CONGADA: Manifestação da Cultura Popular em Urutaí-GO

Abstract

This monographic work aims to study the history of congadas in the city of Urutaí Goiás, demonstrating how this festival is part of the popular culture of the citizens of this municipality and of those who come to celebrate it, hence the importance of its perpetuation for other generations. It is evident that the cultural memory of a people is very important for the preservation of their history and identity and with this, talking about the festival, demonstrating how it emerged, how it is inserted in the culture of these citizens is a way of also valuing it. it and disseminate knowledge to those who do not know it or do not understand the historical-social factors behind it. This festival was brought to Brazil by people of African descent in a ritual marked by singing, music and a theatrical drama that was soon integrated into the Catholic church. Thus, we intend to analyze the value of the congadas festival in the city of Urutaí, demonstrating how it emerged, who is part of this festival and what it represents in the culture of this city. Two different methodologies were used in this research, the bibliographic review based on authors such as Silva (2008), Mattos (2007), Cascudo (2003), among others. After the discussions it became clear that congadas represent the history and culture of many people in the municipality of Urutaí, as it involves the issue of faith, socialization with friends, an ancient cultural practice that makes people develop a feeling of identity in relation to the place and this practice, which is why it is so valued by the citizens of that city.
