Desafios e perspectivas da inclusão da criança com Síndrome de Down nas escolas no município de Luziânia

Abstract

This qualitative research aims to demonstrate the possibilities and challenges of the inclusion of children with Down syndrome, delimiting them in an Elementary School of the city of Luziânia-GO. And, thus, to historicize and analyze the inclusive education in Brazil, investigating the role of the Municipal Secretary of Education regarding the education provided to children with Down Syndrome, presenting the possible realization of the potential of this student when receiving specialized care. The data was acquired through interviews and formalized in a subjective questionnaire applied at the Municipal Secretariat of Education, in order to understand how the teaching process for students with Down Syndrome happens. The research presents theoretical foundation based on the ideas of the following authors: Ludke and André (1986), YIN (2010), (COLL, 2004) and Gerhardt (2009). After conducting the research, it was possible to understand how the process of inclusion in the educational context of the municipality happens and the importance of offering specialized and quality inclusive education according to the particular need of each student.
